The Thorn Township Fire Department provides fire and emergency medical services for all of Thorn Township as well as the village of Thornville. The Fire Department provides emergency response for approximately 45 square miles, with an approximate population of this area is over 4000 residents. We also provide automatic aid services for several of our surrounding communities.
Fire Department personnel strive to sustain a high level of service through exceptional firefighting, emergency medical, specialized rescue, fire prevention, and public education services. Our personnel is dedicated to being the most educated and prepared emergency service providers. This is accomplished through continuous training and education.
Currently the Thorn Township fleet consist of two fully ALS medic units, Engine, Rescue/Engine, Brush truck and a UTV.
In addition to emergency services, fire prevention personnel provide routine fire safety inspections. We provide specialized services through school programs, children’s safety programs, along with several other public education activities and events.The department is also a certified for Initial and re-certification in First Aid, CPR/AED for Adults, Children, and Infants.
