About the Department

The Thorn Township Fire Department provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, fire prevention, and public education services to the residents and visitors of Thorn Township and the Village of Thornville.

The department serves approximately 45 square miles and responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Staffing & Emergency Medical Services

The department currently employs seven full-time personnel along with additional part-time firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.

We maintain 24-hour staffing with two full-time Firefighter/Paramedics assigned to each shift along with two part-time personnel. A paramedic-level provider is on duty every shift, allowing us to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical services around the clock.

Fire Prevention & Public Education
